On Saturday, January 5 2013, the Key Club in West Hollywood hosted the 2nd Annual Rockers Against Cancer benefit.
Hard rock and heavy metal bands came together on this night to raise money for the cause. The power-packed line-up featured White Lie, Rogue Stallion, Stonebreed, Octane Mob, Hollywood Hustlers, Leatherwolf, Mandy Lion, with Lords of Rock Headlining the show.
The band that really caught my eyes and ears is Octane Mob. I’ve heard this power-metal quartet’s name a lot around the streets of LA and OC- they’ve been burning up the So-Cal music scene.
I’ve met them a few times and seen them around, but this was the first time I got to see them live, and if you are a fan of heavy metal, this is a band you must check out. They are heavy enough to please the most brutal metallers in the crowd, with plenty of melody and catchy vocals.
When the fog rolled out under the towering Octane Mob banners on each side of the stage, we officially got mobbed by Brett Octane’s crushing guitar, Steve Slaughter’s thundering bass, and Alex Nunez’s pummeling drums.
Eddie Octane took the helm with a guttural scream on the opening lines of “Always a Lie,” one of my favorites Octane Mob tunes that shows off Eddie’s amazing versatility as a lead singer. Other standouts included “Demon Driver,” featuring an eerily melodic and very heavy bass-line, the thrashy “Chaos,” with a fiery guitar lead that gave me tendonitis just watching.
The band’s new single, “Bed of Knives,” whose double-bass drum playing left me black and blue. I was shocked to find out that Alex (Octane Mob drummer) is only 20 years old. His speed and technique rival many seasoned veterans.
Steve joined the band not long before the first annual Rockers Against Cancer, and founders Eddie and Brett have been churning the metal together since 2008, when OM was founded. The band continues to take on bigger and better battlefields- you can catch them Thursday January 24th at Mirror Image Studios and Tuesday the 29th at Universal City-walk. And I can’t wait to see them this April at the Punk Rock Picnic.
You can find them on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest: – Raquel Figlo
Micah Brown is a good friend of Adrenaline Fueled and an even better musician. The new music video he just dropped is so epic, we had to share it with you all.
After recently being awarded at the OC Music Awards for best Acoustic Artist this is only the beginning of what you will see from this talented dude.
